Meet The New Trust Board Members |
At the AGM of the Supporters Trust this week, the results of the vote to elect board members to the trust were announced. Huw Cooze, Ron Knuszka and Debbie Rees were all elected back to the board of the trust although there was a surprise when chairman John Parkhouse and long serving board member Richard Lillicrap both failed to get enough votes to regain their seats on the board. Former World Bowling champion Stephen Rees also failed in his efforts to be elected to the trust board meaning that three new board members – Marilyn Croft, Viv Brooks and John Young were all elected to the trust board. This is what the three new board members had to say about themselves on the nomination forms VIV BROOKS Swansea born and bred, saw my first game at the Vetch in 1956. Played Senior League soccer. North Bank season ticket holder for many years, get to as many away games as possible meeting up with many ‘Exiled Jacks’. I am employed as a Senior Manager at Swansea College. I have been involved with a number of Trust initiated events, and if elected, I would encourage greater links between the Club and community, and promoting ‘football in the community’ projects, and also encourage more involvement of members and players in the running, promoting of the Trust and to have greater representation on the Trust Board from all Supporter groups. MARILYN CROFT Swansea born who has been a Swans supporter since 1976 when I met my husband on the North Bank, my close family are all North Bank season ticket holders. Employed as a Reprographic Technician at Neath Comprehensive School. Became a member of the Trust Working Party at the inaugural meeting in July 2001, subsequently nominated to be Trust spokesperson and ‘public face’ of the trust most especially during those hectic periods prior to the launch of the trust involving many hours of time consuming but satisfactory work. Elected to the original trust board and subsequently became the media officer over a two year period which was made doubly interesting during the troubled times at the club. Stood down after my initial two year stint, but was co-opted onto the board again as media/press officer last November which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I therefore have decided to seek re-election to the Trust Board, as I firmly believe in the values and ethos of SCST and feel that I still have the stamina and ability to continue with my work as a Board Member. JOHN YOUNG I have supported the Swans for about 35 years, most of that time on the North Bank with a shirt stint in the old enclosure. Attended some of the early Trust Open Forums in Cwmbwrla and have been a member since the first year. I am not a politician looking to sell myself to you, it simply means that I am one of you. I consider myself a real supporter similar to the other Trust Board members whose only interest is what is best for the club. Having recently retired I feel that I have the time and energy to become actively involved as a Board member. |
