Kenny Jackett has strengthened his attack with the loan signing of Scott Fitzgerald who should sign at the Vetch on Tuesday.
Paul Connor and James Thomas will both definitely miss the LDV Vans Trophy tie against Luton at the Vetch and Jackett has a striking nightmare with both Lee Trundle and Kevin Nugent rated as doubtful for the tie.
Fitzgerald was top scorer for the Hornets last season but has struggled to hold down a starting place this term and Jackett is poised to return to his former club to secure the signature of the front man.
“We hope to bring in Scott Fitzgerald on loan from Watford and hopefully he will sign tomorrow (Tuesday) and would be available to play against Luton,” Jackett told BBC Sport.
“He scored quite a number of goals for Watford last season, but due to the form of Danny Webber and Heidar Helguson he hasn’t been in the side yet this year.
“I think he’ll be a very good addition and, while we have a bit of a striker crisis with injuries, I’m sure he’ll help us out and do very well.
“At the moment it’s just a loan, just somebody who can help us out.
“But I think he’s a good player and you can never have enough good players – so you never know what could happen in the future.”
