Kenny Jackett’s preparations for the massive game against Yeovil on Saturday have been dealt a huge blow by the reporting on the Bristol City official web site that on-loan winger Marc Goodfellow has been recalled to Ashton Gate after his initial one month loan spell ended after yesterday’s win against Boston.
Goodfellow has scored 4 times in his last five appearances for the Swans and impressed more and more each game into his loan spell and last week it was announced that the Swans had secured his services for another month.
However, the Bristol City official site reports today that “Brian Tinnion has now opted to recall Marc Goodfellow following the completion of his one-month loan spell at Swansea City.
The winger, whohas scored four goals in just eight appearances for the League Two side, was expected to have his loan spell extended into a second month.
But with the current injury and illness crisis at Ashton Gate, City’s player-manager has now decided to bring Goodfellow back to the club.
Brian told bcfc.co.uk today: “Marc’s loan is now up at Swansea and he will be coming back to us. We need him in the squad at a time when injury and illness is rife.
“We’ve had no bid from Swansea and if they want him again they will have to pay for him. At the moment he is due to train with us again from Thursday onwards.”
If the two sides cannot reach an agreement then it appears that Andy Robinson will come back into he starting line up against Yeovil on Saturday but it is a move that will disrupt the natural width that we have been afforded over the last few games – a period that has seen the Swans at their most dominant.
Time will tell but it’s 48 hours and counting if the Swans want Freezer for the weekend.
