Season Tickets To Go On General Sale |
Existing season ticket holders have had their pick. The general public have had their pick and now from this weekend it is open doors at the stadium without the need to book a viewing time to pick season tickets for next season. The club have experienced record ST sales already with almost double the number of ticket holders than there were last season with over 6,000 people having purchased for football alone to see the Swans in their new home. Premier Club, who are overseeing the selling of season tickets are advising people that their choice of seats will be limited without a season ticket and even if they cannot see all matches they are suggesting that maybe a 12 game season ticket will be a good option. Large sections of the East and West stand already proudly hold red sold stickers on their seats which, to the uneducated, mean that they are football season ticket sales and not join efforts, as some would like you to believe, with Ospreys rugby. Adding to that the premier seats in the West Stand and around 7500 seats are already occupied for each match in the new stadium with season ticket sales predicted to break the 10,000 barrier meaning that White Rock will be one of the heaviest occupied stadiums in the division this coming season. Season tickets first went on sale just three weeks ago and with around 300 per day being sold since then, club officials will be delighted as they see the prospect of Kenny’s transfer budget getting bigger by the day meaning our chances of success next season are greatly heightened. There has been much criticism of the pricing structure of season tickets for next season and some of it very justified in terms of children’s prices and the loss of the traditional early bird discount. But that aside, with season ticket sales of 10,000 potentially could we have got much more if we actually reduced the prices? We will now never know but I would say it is doubtful. It is quite incredible at this moment in time to witness the figures that we are talking. I distinctly remember a game with little over 2000 fans back in the relegation season of 2000/01 and to be looking at crowds of 5, 6 and 7 times that just four years later is an incredible achievement. The move to the new stadium has come at the right time and proof indeed that promotion was essential last season – it’s hard to believe we would have matched the season ticket sales in League Two. What we have to set out to do now as a club is to ensure that the new faces keep on coming back week in week out and to do that I am sure that Kenny is in no doubt of the need to build a side that is capable of challenging in the top half of the table. 8000 people watched our opening game last time after promotion – there is every possibility that we will double that next time around. Great times to be a Swans fan? I like to think so.
