Stadium Name Tomorrow

You just have to love Swansea Council. After pretty much failing miserably for over a year to get a sponsor for the stadium, they have spent the last two weeks counting down the days until the official announcement tomorrow.

Which I guess is understandable after all they have finally managed the impossible task of selling the best league ground in Wales to as sponsor who wants to see their name on television almost every week through the coverage of its football and rugby teams. That achievement itself must rank alongside selling water to the Foreign Legion or vector heaters to the Eskimos (!!!!!)

But what is comical is that for the last three weeks pretty much everyone has known the name of the sponsor and the announcement will be greeted with about as much excitement as that generated at the world pot holing competition this year.

Liberty Properties Plc will tomorrow morning be unveiled as the new sponsor for the newly named “Liberty Stadium” with the website (libertystadium.co.uk) soon to follow.

Councillor Holley said: “We are delighted to be bringing a top sponsor to the new stadium. “We are sure that the new name will become a favourite with the fans and will raise the profile of the stadium even further. “We have worked hard to ensure that the sponsor is the right one for the stadium and the city itself. “After considering a shortlist of potential sponsors, we feel the successful company’s offer sits most comfortably with the values of the stadium and will help to ensure success, both on and off the field.”

So the values of the stadium? I really don’t want to go into detail here what they are supposed to be but suffice to say if Liberty Properties sit nicely in tune with those then please nobody do business with them ๐Ÿ˜‰
