Swansea City are likely to be watched by their largest crowd of the season on Friday night as ticket sales eclipsed the 17,000 barrier with three days left to go for sales.
The record for a crowd at White Rock is also under threat which currently stands with a crowd of 18,412 for the Ospreys opening game at the ground against Wasps. Yeovil have sold in excess of 1100 of their 1800 allocation for the game and the ticket sales for home fans have now gone onto the North West and North East corners of the ground such is the demand to see Kenny Jackett’s league leaders.
Attendances at the stadium have so far eclipsed the imagination of most people and the Swans are already the 17th best supported side in the Coca Cola Leagues – ahead of 9 championship clubs as well as every League One club bar former European Champions Nottingham Forest.
Last weekend’s 2-1 victory at Southend propelled the Swans back to the top of the league and three points on Friday will ensure they stay there barring a goal avalanche from Huddersfield this weekend.
Friday’s visitors Yeovil warmed up for the visit to Swansea with a comprehensive 4-0 drubbing of League One side Macclesfield in their FA Cup replay. Darren Way, Paul Terry, Lee Johnson and Aaron Davies were all on target as they coasted through to a 2nd round meeting away at fellow League One side Walsall.
