Away Attendances – The Final Update

I thought you would all appreciate being brought up to date with the season’s away followings. The updated table shows our final figure, together with Cardiff’s, with each club having played 23 away league fixtures, and the results show little difference from those shown after 21 games.

In terms of the aggregate figures, we have taken away 1753 fans more than they have this season, whilst the comparative averages are – Swans 1123 and Cardiff 1040. It is certainly pleasing to see that we have had the edge over our rivals, who are playing in the Championship, but minor points-scoring is not the purpose of this exercise.

The full season results are open to all sorts of analysis, and I am sure that people can put whatever spin on them that they wish, but the simple over-riding conclusion is that there is little difference between the core level of support for each club.

A point of clarification – the figures are the official figures as published by each club, except that in Cardiff’s case I have taken the information from reports in the South Wales Echo for their last two away games, at Crewe and Coventry.
