Robbo Staying At Liberty |
|
It came as no surprise today to learn that Andy Robinson had attracted interest from elsewhere. The Evening Post today reported that the Swans had turned down a bid from League One champions Southend in the region of £150,000. Robinson was free scoring at the end of last season and that kind of figure from midfield is always likely to alert the attention of other clubs but what is refreshing is to know that both club and player want him to stay at the Swans for the coming season. Speaking to the Post tonight, Robinson commented "Apparently there’s been a bit of interest," Robinson said. "My agent has told me that a few clubs have come in and that’s good for me because people are taking notice of my ability. "But I just want to get myself sorted with Swansea. I spoke to the gaffer a few times last season. I told him that this is my club and I want to stay. "They’ve offered me a new contract and, hopefully, it will all be done soon because I don’t want it to drag on. "I just want to get it signed and it’s up to the club now to sort it out. Normally my contract situation is wrapped up within a week, but there are a few things to iron out. Any speculation will stop when it’s done." As ever, club chairman Huw Jenkins was on hand to confirm Robbo’s comments: "The progress Andy’s made over the last few years has been fantastic, "He’s a vital part of our plans and we’re waiting for Andy and his agent to come and sign the new contract." And let’s hope he does Huw, fingers crossed. |
