After being left out of the matchday 16 on Saturday, Leon Knight has today been transfer listed by the Swans with the reasonings still given as “football reasons”
Rumours have circulated around the various outlets since he was left out of the squad this weekend with stories ranging from full blown punch ups through to disagreeing with being dropped from the starting line up. Today though whatever those reasons it doesn’t matter as the club have placed their leading goal scorer on the transfer list and will listen to offers for the man that they signed only in January this year.
Speaking to the BBC on the wekend Jackett said “It was a purely football decision, not disciplinary,
“I decided I wanted a different combination up front – we’ve been seeking the right balance all season, the right players to complement each other.
“It’s not always the best players who make up the best team.
“Leon wasn’t very happy with the decision, as to whether he gets back into the side, we’ll have to see how he reacts and how hard he works – the ball’s in his court.”
It appears from today’s news that the ball was batted back from his court and the club and player now have differences that will see a parting of the ways. And for that reason alone no doubt the rumour mill will continue to throw out various reasons for what has actually caused this breakdown between player and employer.
Until then, the Swans are left with just Trundle and Fallon to lead the line backed by Chris Jones until Bayo is back to fitness. Presumably on that basis there will be room for a new striker very soon?
