On loan Swans defender Marcos Painter revealed that he could have been lining up against the Swans this weekend with both Port Vale and Chesterfield having been rejected in favour of a move to the Liberty Stadium.
Painter will sign on loan for one month tomorrow and told the Evening Post that the Swans weekend opponents had also expressed an interest in taking him on loan from Championship side Birmingham City
In the end it came down mainly to league position why he came here as he looks to help Jackett’s men consolidate (or grow!) what is currently a play off position in League One
“I could easily have chosen Port Vale as that would have been the nearest club to Birmingham,” said the 20-year-old Midlander, who is due in South Wales tomorrow. “But Swansea are in the play-off positions and I want to play at the highest level possible. “I understand they play in a new stadium and they have very passionate fans.”
“Hopefully this move will give me a chance to play some league games because that’s what I really need at this stage of my career,” he added. “Playing reserve-team football is okay for fitness, but there’s nothing better than playing in a proper first-team match on a Saturday afternoon.”
Painter is currently due to return to Birmingham after the Swans home match against Carlisle on December 16
