LT10: The Old Me

Swans striker Lee Trundle believes that he is back to the “old me” which can surely only be bad news for League One defenders? If, by the old me he means the player that notched almost twenty goals before Christmas last season then it could be a good period for the Swans indeed.

Speaking via his “Pro-Life” column on the Sky Sports web site, Trundle said “I must admit I am really feeling myself now after my injury. It does take quite a bit of time for you to get back into the swing of things.

“The goals are starting to come back and I think I am getting back to what people would recognise as the old me.

“I have managed two goals in the last two games and as a team we are really starting to get things going.

“My match fitness is back up to the level where I want it to be and that is very pleasing – at that point you stop worrying about your injury problems and, for me anyway, the whole games just seems to come much easier.

“Confidence is high and we know we have to keep it up, but last season I think is going to stand us in good stead. This time last year we were clear and had a lot of hype surrounding us, but now we are progressing well and people are not really focusing on us too much.

“Obviously things at Newport were overshadowed by the fourth official being hit by the missile. It goes without saying that was a scandalous incident and one we do not want to see in football.

“To be honest I think it was lucky that nobody else was injured, I was towards that area of the pitch and I could see the Swansea bench was also under somewhat of a barrage at that point. It was a shame as the atmosphere was brilliant between the two Welsh sides. “
