On loan full back Marcos Painter has been cleared by Birmingham manager Steve Bruce to play in the Swans FA Cup tie at Darlington this weekend.
Painter has played two games since arriving on loan from the Championship side and both of them have ended in the Swans keeping a clean sheet – the 2-0 win at Port Vale and the 0-0 draw against Bristol City.
It was initially suspected that Steve Bruce may not want his man cup ties but this could be the clearest indication yet that Painter does not feature in his plans at St Andrews as he will be ineligible to play for the Blues when he is due to return in the middle of December.
Bruce has stipulated that he cannot face his employers at any later stage in the competition. Painter himself was delighted with the turn of events “I’m delighted because obviously I’m only on loan and therefore I want to play as much as I can.
“The FA Cup is a special competition and I’m looking forward to the game already.”
Ian Craney will not feature in the tie having already played for Accrington Stanley in this year’s competition
