Adebayo Akinfenwa has just one goal to his credit this season – a flick header against Rotherham last weekend. Much of the term has been spent on the bench for the man signed from Torquay in the summer of 2005 and that is bound to frustrate.
However, he claims that he will still be at the club past the transfer window. “It’s been frustrating because no one wants to sit on the bench,” said Akinfenwa.
“Everyone wants to play, but you just have to take it in your stride. As for January, I’d love to stay.
“Swansea’s a good club. The players, management, the way the club is run – they can do big things. But I believe that what’s meant to happen will happen. My contract’s up at the end of the season and I’ll leave it in the hands of God as to whether I’m here after that.
“It’s the same when I’m not in the side or I’m in the side. What’s meant to be will be and that’s bigger than me.”I’ve got so much love for the fans because they have love for me, but then I think of the players who are on the pitch and know they just want encouragement. We are all chasing the same goal after all.”
“I think both Rory and Lee Trundle have been playing well, but I was glad to come on and get a goal. It looked like we weren’t going to get anything from a game where a point was the least we deserved.”
