With suspension keeping out Lee Trundle and injury keeping out Darren Pratley you would forgive Sheffield United if they had a wry smile on their faces at the loss of two such influential players for their lower league opponents. But if that is the case then Jagielka was not giving it away when he spoke to the Western Mail how he felt that it wouldn’t maybe be such a big surprise if the Swans came away from Bramall Lane with a fourth round place.
“It won’t be a great shock if Swansea get a result at the Lane on Saturday.” Jagielka said
“They’ve come a long way and they’re doing well in their league.
“They’ve got a great new stadium and it’s a club building for the future.
“We’ve only just gone up to the Premier League and it’s the first time we’ve been in the top division for a long time.
“I’m sure the Swansea players will be looking forward to coming to our place and testing their skills against us.
“It will be a fantastic day for them and I’m sure they will come to Sheffield fancying their chances.
“We’re putting up a fight in the Premier League and hopefully we’ll be too strong for them.
“We’re certainly not thinking we’ll turn them over just by turning up.
“I watch bits and bobs of League One football and Swansea have got some good players. They have a few players that people pay to go and watch.
“I felt they were unlucky not to get promoted last season.”
And Jagielka as well as preparing for defeat is eying a potential replay and the chance to play at the Liberty Stadium
“There have been times this season where we’ve played well and come away with nothing – that’s the way the Premier League is,” he said.
“It’s tough to put a good run together but we deserve to be in this division. If we beat Swansea by a few goals then that will give us more confidence – that’s the way we’re looking at it.
“But I’d be quite happy with a draw because that will give me a chance to see their new stadium!”
