Swans chairman Huw Jenkins could not hide his disappointment after watching his side drawn away to Chester or Ipswich in the FA Cup. It is the Swans’ ninth consecutive away draw in the competition and after the glory of the Bramall Lane victory there was little doubt that Jenkins had joined the fans in looking for the big draw
Jenkins told Sky Sports: “We were looking for one of the big guns away but saying that playing at Ipswich or Chester is something to look forward to, especially with our last three away games in the competition which we won comfortably.
“Sheffield United was fantastic, obviously winning 3-0 and our support was fantastic and let’s give our supporters something to cheer about for the rest of the season.
“No disrespect to Chester but we hope to play Ipswich and hopefully our away form will continue.
“That is our preferred choice. I hope our run in the cup will continue.
“The three away games we’ve had have been difficult but we have scored three in each and long may that continue.”
The exact opponents for the Swans will be known next Tuesday once the replay has taken place at Portman Road and tickets are likely to go on sale the following day or the day after. Allocations are approximately 1500 at Chester and 4500 at Portman Road.
