It’s been one of football’s worst kept secrets again but Rory Fallon today completed his รยฃ300,000 move to Plymouth Argyle almost a year since he joined from Swindon for the same figure.
After a week of “he has” “he has” and “he has again” both clubs confirmed the deal on Friday morning with the striker straight into the squad for Plymouth’s live Sky TV game against Coventry on Monday night.
Things never really worked for Fallon at Swansea with goals at a premium and many of the crowd on his back for his performances and the move was probably best for all concerned.
Speculation immediately started on the message board as to who would replace Fallon at Swansea with names ranging from Championship strikers through League One strikers, Irish strikers and pretty much anyone you can think of who could contemplate coming here
The club will be well aware of the need to fill the hole left in the squad from Rory’s departure.
Meanwhile Mark Howard has signed a one month loan deal to join the Swans from Cardiff – he will provide the cover for Andy Oakes who is injured so expect some bench warming in the next month
And Gavin Williams, a Swansea target (rumoured) has been told he can leave Ipswich after falling out of favour with boss Jim Magilton.
