Trunds: "Bayo Please"

On the day that Pawel Abbott was committing his future to the Liberty Stadium, Lee Trundle told the Western Mail that Bayo is his preferred strike partner.

Trundle and Bayo were paired up front for a rare time this season at the weekend following the departure of Rory Fallon to Plymouth and whilst it is widely expected that they will do the same tonight against Gillingham, it is a partnership that Trunds would like to see continue although he did welcome the new arrival

“If you can better the squad and they help us towards promotion that would be a good thing,” said the 30-year-old.

“Whoever comes into the club I hope they do a good job. It’s not really my place to comment on people coming in.

“But, as I’ve said before, Bayo is the main striker I want to play with.

“I think me and him work well together. When we first came into this division it was me and him working as partners and we did really well.

“I think we complement each other – and I want to keep playing with Bayo.

“I thought we played well against Forest,

“We had a lot of chances. We put them under a lot of pressure and I think it was clear on the day we were the better side.

“We didn’t win, but we’ve got to take some positives and go into the Gillingham game feeling confident.

“Our results recently haven’t been reflecting our performances. We’ll be looking to put that right.

“I think the size of the club we are, every home game is a must-win for us.

“We’re expected to win and I think if a team comes here we should be taking points off them.

“Going into Gillingham, the way we’ve been playing, I’m sure we can get the win.”
