“The FA Cup is not a distraction and it hurts to be out. I always felt that if we can get to the Championship, we can hold our own. “To get there is the hard part and now we must try to secure one of those promotion places.

“To lose like that was a little bit harsh, Our performance level was good and we caused Ipswich a few problems.

“We can take some positives because we were in no way overawed or outplayed. “The penalty was harsh. If you are going to award penalties for minimal contact, then there are going to be quite a few penalties. “Tom Williams pulled the lad slightly, but he did not go down or even appeal.

“Ipswich are a good footballing side and we needed to match them in midfield from the start so they did not get their tails up and lift the crowd. “Tactically this has worked out before and, to a degree, it worked today. We had a strong foothold on the game before the penalty decision. “I thought Lee Trundle would make an impact when he came on and that proved to be the case.

“He is one of their better players and showed quality when he came on. They came to frustrate us and had a game plan that did not include Trundle. “I didn’t think they were going to hurt us before the interval, but they looked like a side who could play in the Championship. They passed the ball very well. “We acquitted ourselves well. We had a few scary moments in the second half, but we expected that because Swansea are a good side

At first I was devastated that Jaime Peters had missed the target because he got in a good area, but the referee was on the spot. “Alan Lee kept his composure again. He stepped back while all the commotion was going on. “I think we just about scraped it. We started okay, but Swansea got better and better.”
