Defender Alan Tate was signed on loan by Brian Flynn in 2002 and he also played a major part in helping the Swans stay in the league in the 2002/03 season. Tate then came back to South Wales a season later and eventually signed permanently.

Tate was originally signed as a centre back but can play in centre midfield but has most recently been converted to a right back and he has even played in goal once!

Tatey was voted Player of the Year for the 2005-06 season, but he wasn’t at his very best last season, he played in many different positions and we rarely saw the partnership on the right with Britton – that worked so well the season before.

Alan will be looking to curb his discipline this coming season as he was sent off twice early on in away games last season, he will probably play in central defence but he’s still a vital player for us.
