Defender Garry Monk was signed by Kenny Jackett from Southampton in 2004; he was sent off 3 times and served a 7 match ban in his first season with the Swans. Apart from that he was solid in his first season as the Swans gained promotion from League Two in 2004/05.

He had a disappointing season in 2005-06 in League One, he often struggled with pacy strikers and looked rather dodgy at times, he only played 2 games last season as a knee injury kept him out for the whole of the season. He signed a new one year deal in the summer and will be looking to cement his place back in the team.
