Trundle Tips The Swans |
|
Lee Trundle was an interested spectator on Tuesday night as the Swans exited the Carling Cup with a great display at the Liberty against Reading. Trundle, fresh from his first two goals at the weekend and relaxing prior to taking on Manchester City last night watched from the stands as his old team mates dominated the match pretty much from the offset but missed that little magic up front – ironically something Trundle could probably have provided. But with the striker plying his trade in the Championship – deservedly so – he still had good words for the work done by Roberto with the squad and tipped his former team mates for great things this season. ”It looked like Swansea were the Premier League side and the way they passed the ball around and attacked, they were very unlucky to lose,” he told the Evening Post ”The lads got it down and played nice football. They were on top for most of the game and they will be disappointed with a 1-0 defeat. ”It’s enjoyable for the fans to see the team playing so much football. When the gaffer (Martinez) came back last season that is they way he wanted us to play. I knew his teams were going to play like that and it’s great to watch. ”The squad is very strong, especially across midfield. The gaffer could probably pick two sets of a four-man midfield and they would walk into any side in the division. ”Obviously I played with Darryl last season and he is a quality player who will get you goals while I didn’t see so much of Jason because he was injured throughout the pre-season. But on watching him against Reading he was powerful and has an eye for goal. ”Up front is a department where they are strong but the gaffer will still want to strengthen there. Some nights like Tuesday happen when the ball just won’t go in. ”Over the past few games I’ve spoken to the gaffer and he said they have played really well. Last week they got three goals and against Reading it was one of those nights against Premier opposition but they certainly didn’t look out of place. ”Swansea are blessed with players and the strikers will get goals – it will be an exciting season.” Let’s hope so anyway…..
