Swans midfielder Ian Craney has returned to Accrington Stanley on a three month loan less than twelve months after he made the move South.
Craney has failed to establish himself in Swansea despite joining with a good reputation for his midfield play. His confidence has visibly dropped during his time here and despite being billed as a goal scoring midfielder he has failed to find the net in any of his appearances.
The Accrington official site announced the move this evening stating “Former Stanley midfielder Ian Craney is set to return to the club on a three month loan deal from Swansea City. The 25 year old was a regular for the League One side after joining them from Stanley early last season, but this year has only made one League appearance from the bench. He previously made over 100 appearances for Stanley after signing from Altrincham in June 2004. Perhaps most noted for scoring a cracker at Morecambe Bay, Ian will be eligible to play on Saturday afternoon at Bury.”
Craney was part of the Accrington side that returned to the football league in 2006 and he scored six goals in the early part of last season before joining the Swans on loan with the move becoming permanent in January.
He was a regular in the side at the back end of last season but has found himself increasingly on the fringes this season with appearances pretty much limited to the minor competitions.
