Roberto Martinez

“It’s been difficult for the players because there’s been a bit of negativity around,

“But it’s only been a minority because the majority of supporters have always been behind the team.

“They showed tonight just how much they feel for the club and I’m delighted for them and my players.

“The whole performance demonstrated a great determination and tremendous character.

“They needed to stay united – and that’s exactly what they did with such a hard fought result. I think that was evident at the end of the game with the group huddle. It proves there is nothing but unity within the dressing room to succeed.

“Swindon were unbeaten away from home until they came here because they are physically strong and effective at what they do.

“But four points out of six at home is a good return and they can take a lot out of that performance.”

Paul Sturrock

“I didn’t feel that it was a 2-1 defeat and the disappointing thing was that we didn’t take something from the game

“It’s one of those nights when you learn more about your team in defeat than from a win. It has given me food for thought that’s for sure.

“I felt there was too much square and back passing in our play. When we got the ball forward our strikers held up well and we got into the game. We need to be more positive in our approach if we are going to take more pointage from games.

“We played well in the second half and we did create chances. We hit the post through Paynter and could have drawn level on a number of occasions. We kept them down to one or two flurries going forward.

“Both teams had chances and we have probably created more than Swansea, but that’s football.”
