Loan signing Warren Feeney basked in his third and fourth league goals in three games and hinted that his move from Cardiff City could be made permanent in January.
Feeney arrived at the Liberty just short of the transfer deadline on a loan move until January 1st. He had not scored a league goal since January and was written off as a panic signing, not what we needed and no good for the Swansea cause.
How quick opinions can change as goals against Swindon, Orient and two yesterday have propelled him towards the top of the Swans scoring charts and well on the way to earning himself a position as a more settled part of the Liberty furniture.
Feeney though is keeping his feet on the ground and believes that the scoreline may have flattered Swansea yesterday ”It’s pleasing to come away with a 4-1 win but to be honest it wasn’t a 4-1 game.” he told the Evening Post after the game
”We didn’t play well, everyone knows that, but we have got that mentality at the moment where we know we are going to be hard to beat. ”We felt we were hard done by with the penalty decision, but we know we are capable of scoring goals and we got on with it. ”Although I thought Bournemouth were superb in the second half, we knew it was over once we got the penalty and we’re sitting nicely now at the top of the league.”
”Swansea are a good club who are on the up and I’m starting to feel at home now,” Feeney added. ”It’s a good squad with a lot of enthusiasm and I’m really enjoying my football at the moment. Anything permanent will be up to the two clubs, but it’s going to be hard for me to get in at Cardiff with Jimmy (Floyd Hasselbaink) and Robbie (Fowler) there. ”The Swansea fans have been great with me. They gave me a standing ovation on my debut even though I didn’t play that well and it’s great to hear them calling me what they were calling me here. ”I better not say the words, but I hope the goals have repaid them a little bit because they’ve paid good money to get to the game.”
