Duffy Ready To Score

Darryl Duffy is ready to get back into first team action at the Liberty Stadium and confident that he can find himself back amongst the goals when he could after his scoring return for the reserves this week.

Duffy netted the Swans goal in the 1-1 draw with Exeter earlier in the week and he is not ready to challenge Warren Feeney and Jason Scotland for a place in the starting line up. Feeney has grabbed four goals in Duffy’s absence whilst Scotland has not found the net for over a month as the Swans have lifted themselves into the play off zone of league one. And it is Feeney that Duffy is looking at currently as the loanee had not scored for 8 months until he ended that drought and now he has four in three league outings.

Speaking to the Evening Post, Duffy said “It has been frustrating so far for me but I am confident I can score a lot of goals this season

“Scoring goals is my game and I will never doubt my ability.

“I said earlier this season that we were going to hammer a few teams and it just so happened while I was injured.

“But having seen the quality service provided to the strikers over the past few weeks, I think it is only a matter of time before I am back scoring.

“It’s all about getting your head down in training, working hard on your game and waiting patiently for your chance – when that comes you have to take it

“That is what Warren did when I was starting and it has paid off for him. He has played well with Jason, as has the rest of the team.

“To be fair to the boys, they have played some excellent football and we were top prior to last weekend, so the guys that are playing deserve to be there.

Duffy also had a word to say about tragic Hartlepool youngster Michael Maidens who was killed in a car crash last weekend.

“I was at Hartlepool for a couple of months and trained with Michael in that time,” said Duffy.

“It was an absolutely tragic accident and there was no way the game could have gone ahead.

“I still talk to some of the boys at Hartlepool and they were saying the lads were an absolute wreck after hearing the news.

“Swansea did the right thing in calling the game off.”
