Ferrie’s Feet On Ground

Ferrie Bodde is keeping his feet on the ground despite seeing his side sitting high in second place in League One with a game in hand on the leaders.

Bodde amused the assembled press pack on Saturday evening by making his statement in Dutch but it was clear enough that the midfielder was not getting carried away despite 6 wins and a draw from the sides last 8 league outings. Only a defeat at unbeaten Leeds has blotted that copybook and you would forgive anyone for getting a little carried away as the Swans look to mount a serious promotion challenge.

”I heard Swansea have not won here in four years,” Bodde said, ”so we’re happy to get three points.

”It was a difficult game, but the players in this team are fighting for each other and working for each other and that gives everybody a lot of spirit.

”We’re happy to win because it keeps us near the top of the table. We feel we have a team who can handle this division, but, as you say, we have to keep our feet on the ground.”

And Roberto was backing his Dutch midfielders words when he said ”Don’t get me wrong, the compliments are nice

”But we cannot get carried away. As a club we need to understand that we are trying to improve and we are still learning.

”We are just thinking now about next Friday’s game (with Gillingham) because the league is a competition where you need to be able to adapt in different months and different games.

”To talk about getting promoted in October would be a huge mistake.”
