Bauza was one of three who arrived here last year along with Angel Rangel and Andrea Orlandi and this year they have been joined by Jordi Gomez, Gorka Pintado and, more recently, Albert Serran taking the total Spanish influence to six.

But whilst some claim that it could be unsettling for not just the players but the squad as a whole Bauza has no doubts the players will settle. It is less than three months since he scored the brace that secured promotion for the Swans at Gillingham and he grabbed his first hat-trick in the last home game of the season for a fantastic finish to last term.

And he explained to the Western Mail why he settled in so well “It’s very easy to say those type of things,” he said in reference to the comments about how the players would find it difficult. “But I liked it! I love the midweek matches because there is something different about them and I like playing in the wet and any weather or condition because I just like playing.

“And I don’t think this is different for anyone else or difficult for anyone from abroad to adapt to. I mean we’re playing in the Championship in good stadiums and on pitches and surfaces where we can play the way we like to play.

“I don’t think there will be any problems for the new lads in that respect and I don’t see how signing quality players can be a problem for us.

“And very soon they will not be known as Spanish footballers, they will only be known as Swansea City footballers.

“We all want this club to do well and when we win it doesn’t matter who scores the goal or who makes the tackles, just like it doesn’t matter where they come from, we are all here to be successful.

“It can only be good for Swansea football these days is growing so fast, the world is getting smaller and there is nothing made of it when players from abroad go to the Premiership so why should it be any different in the Championship? We are only a league below and if you are able to mix your football background the team will benefit and there’s no way that could be seen as a negative.

“And the lads who have been here a year now are helping the others out, just as Roberto helped us when we first arrived.

“And I don’t think they will have any problems settling, they already know how much I’ve enjoyed my time here because I’ve spoken to some of them before. I played with a few at Espanyol and I’ve spoken to them, not thinking about them coming here or them wanting to come, but just to share my great experience with them.

“I’m sure they will enjoy it as much.”
