Earlier this week, Gareth Barry was disciplined by Aston Villa for an unauthorised interview with a newspaper in which he criticised Martin O'Neill – not dis-similair to the outburst from Bodde earlier this week in which he said the Swans weren't being fair and they should let him leave for Derby.
Bodde had ranted “I am at Swansea not but my heart and my head are not – at times I am not sure what I will do, but my family is my main focus. I never wanted to leave with a bad taste, but the way things have gone is not my fault, it was a hard decision to decide to leave, as it was when I left Holland to come to Swansea.
He added: "It is normal some people may think this is all about me but it isn't because Swansea are the ones who need to sort this out – they need to be fair. I came here to be a success and I have helped them to the Championship, but I have ambitions."
And that alone should have been enough for Swansea to clamp down with some discipline but it does appear that they may not with Huw Jenkins telling the Western Mail “Roberto is in charge of club discipline and he will handle everything the way he sees fit and, in terms of Sweden, Roberto will again make that decision.
“Of course, it is still Ferrie’s decision for what happens – that’s what it always boils down to.
“But, from our point of view, we would now like him to knuckle down and make sure he’s properly prepared for the season.”
Derby are reported as having pulled out of the deal claiming a move of the goalposts in terms of what Swansea want for the player – a claim denied by Swansea as the battle of what was and wasn't said goes on.
But I would still think there was a better than even chance that Ferrie will be at Pride Park at the start of next season where he will be happy. Until more money comes along.
