Planning application number 2008_1422 is for a "New External 2.4m High Security Enclosure" to be built outside the North Stand at the stadium which would allow for home fans to be able to turn left out of the East Stand after matches.
The "enclosure" would mean that away fans could be kept seperate from home fans irrespective of the numbers travelling and would also add weight to the rumours that all games could see away fans kept in for varying periods after the final whistle has blown.
The enclosure appears from the plans itself to cover the main part of the lower part of the North car park – where the buses generally park and would mean that away fans could leave the stadium and be allowed to board their buses without interaction with home supporters.
What doesn't appear clear from the planning proposal is whether home fans would be able to walk past from the East side of the stadium to get to Neath Road and beyond without the need to walk down the river path. With a 2.7m enclosure blocking the way it doesn't seem from the plans as if it could alleviate all the issues faced by home fans at the end of the game.
The proposal was submitted on 8 July and is an open proposal until 25 July leaving just three weeks until the opening league fixture of the season.
