Speaking to the Southampton official website, Poortvliet said “The result in Sheffield was a good draw and we look forward toย Saturday because Swansea play very good football – a little bit like the way we play

“I think when you play against them you get chances to play your own game and prove yourself and I think we are ready for it.

I think a lot of players needed that game in Sheffield, a difficult away game with a clean sheet,” Poortvliet continued. “We looked back at the free kicks against us, the corner kicks, the throw-ins and it looked very good. We were very motivated and the second ball was always ours.

“Our corner kicks and free kicks were also dangerous. That means we had a good mentality and good preparation. Every time I say to the boys that you have to prepare in the warm-up for the things that are coming – the crowd, other players wanting to score from set-pieces.

“We have had a taste at Sheffield and now we want more. We go to Swansea and we have the confidence to try and bring points the home with us.

“We will not make a lot of changes, but I have to look at what was good and where we can do better. When I talked about my back four they were outstanding, and the midfield was also good. The only issue we have is that Olly Lancashire is suspended so we have to look at our options in that area.

“The front players worked very hard and we created some big chances as well, even in the second half. It’s not easy to play away from home and create chances but we did that and the players up front will be more supported by the midfield players on Saturday.”
