Five years ago dreams of Swansea City in the Premiership would have been nothing more than a pipe dream.ย But with the example of Hull City before them, there is belief in South Wales that the Swans can get there and clearly that is the view of midfielder Ferrie Bodde.
As West Brom and others allegedly line up January bids for the Dutchman, Ferrie insists that he is concentrating on his football with Swansea and believes that they can match every ambition that he has.
Speaking on the eve of the next game at Doncaster, Ferrie told the Evening Post “I haven’t heard anything about these stories, I speak to my agent every week and I haven’t heard anything from him.
“It’s a compliment if it’s true, because that means I am playing well. And it’s a dream of mine to play in the Premier League, I’m not going to lie about that.
“But when that will happen, if it happens, I don’t know. I hope one day I will play there, but right now I am concentrating on playing games for Swansea.
“We have so many matches, every Tuesday and Saturday, that you don’t have time to think about anything else.
“The Premier League is a dream for me,” he repeats, “but I’m only 26 so I have a long time to go.
“We have started something at Swansea. “We made history as a team by winning the league last year and now we are doing well in the Championship.
“As a player, you want to be part of that and there’s nothing wrong for me at the moment. I signed a new contract and I am happy at the club.
“We have a fantastic team and I can see that we can win some prizes together.
“Whether that’s this year or next I don’t know, but in the time that I have here I want to play in the Premier League.
“I do what I can do for the team,” he adds.
“I’m happy that I have been able to perform in the Championship, which is what I said before the season started, but that’s thanks to the rest of the team. We all help each other.”
“If you are saying that, I’d probably agree,” he added when questioned whether his current form was his best for the club.
“Last season was a different league and I think the Championship suits me better.
“I think the Premier League will suit me better again, but for now I’m just focusing on our next game.”
