Maybe it is somewhat ironic that the Welsh international is benefitting from Ferrie’s misery after all he has endured himself on the injury front over the past few years.

With that time hopefully behind him he has come in and started the last two league games in the absence of Bodde who has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

A full 90 minute appearance in the South Wales derby on the weekend gave him a boost and whilst he is full of sympathy for his colleague he is also more than happy to grab the chance that has come his way

“The football world can be a cruel place to live sometimes,” said Tudur Jones to today’s Western Mail.

“Ferrie’s injury is a massive blow to him and I feel so much sympathy for him.

“I’ve spoken to him a couple of times since it happened and I’ve said all I can. But they’re only words.

“He’ll take something from them, I’m sure, because they’ve come from someone who’s been there.

“It may sound blunt, but one of the things I said to Ferrie was that he’s just got to get on with it,” said Tudur Jones.

“No-one’s going to do the work for you.

“If he wants to come back as strong as he was before, which I’m sure he will, he’s got to put the graft in.

“If he does, I’m sure the time will fly by.

“But the lad’s still out for six months or so and it’s going to be a tough time for him.

“I can take tremendous confidence from a full 90 minutes in such an intense game as the derby,” he said.

“Obviously, my fitness isn’t going to be right up there yet.

“It’s going to be a case of getting a run of games and feeling my way into it a little bit.”
