The Swans midfielder as we were aware will not play again this season following his injury picked up almost two weeks ago against Birmingham.
Ferrie has undergone an operation and the Swans are saying that his healing is slightly slower at the moment than expected but this should change through his rehabilitation although it could be nine months before he plays again.
“Ferrie’s rehab is a going a bit slower than it normally would at the moment because we are protecting the cartilage,” Evans explained via the Evening Post.
“The first stage of his rehab would normally involve a full range of movement and full weight bearing, but he is not able to do that because of two tears in the cartilage which need to heel.
“It could be that it takes nine months for him to get back, but we believe that what he misses out on in the first part of his rehab he will quickly catch up on later on.
“Basically, the situation is that Ferrie has no chance of playing again this season, but we believe he will be there or thereabouts next pre-season.
“Being back home with his friends and family around him is best for Ferrie right now,” Evans added.
“Apart from anything else, he will need help around the house to do things like cooking, cleaning and washing because he can’t put weight on his knee.
“I have spoken to the Netherlands national team doctor and physio and they are going to treat Ferrie at their equivalent of Lilleshall.
“I have also spoken to the doctor and physio at his old club, Den Haag, and they are happy to help him out.”
