Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez has admitted his frustrations after the clubs 8th successive draw at St Andrews yesterday afternoon as the Liberty Stadium club were held to a 0-0 draw against Birmingham City.
After such a dominant display by the Swans that deserved all three points, Martinez has admitted his frustrations of not turning the lions share of games into wins as he told the SWEP, he said “I’m frustrated that we haven’t won because that is four in a row now where we have dominated and not got the victory,.That’s one too many and it’s a bit unfair on the players. We dominated the game from start to finish and created more than enough chances to win, but I will take responsibility for finding a way to help the players convert those opportunities.”
Handing on loan Manchester United striker Fabien Brandy his first real chance to impress against the former premiership outfit, the Spaniard was left impressed with the 19 year old’s contribution, he added “’The three strikers we had on the pitch during the game, Gorka Pintado, Jason Scotland and Febian Brandy, all made an impact in the game and I’m happy with that. The goals will come for them, I can guarantee that. We have the quality within the squad to score goals if we maintain the standards we have set.”
In characteristic fashion Martinez has refused to draw on the negatives of yesterday’s performance and has expressed his delight with the way in which his side controlled the game as he outlined,“We are guiding ourselves by performances and I am delighted with the way the players controlled the game against Birmingham, who I consider a Premiership squad playing Championship football.
”Unfortunately our performances have not been reflected in the scoreline too often, but I would rather have it that way because this will help us grow. We shouldn’t take for granted the possession we had and the control we had at what is a very difficult place to come and play.
