Britton Draw Streak Nothing To Boast About

Swansea City will face a tricky test at Turf Moor against Burnley this afternoon but midfielder Leon Britton insists that the club’s recent draw run is not a record that the club are boasting about.

Over the last two months the Swans have remained unbeaten but have failed to break a run of draws that now spans eight games but the diminutive midfielder believes its no record to boast about as he told the SWEP , he said โ€œ It’s not a record we’d be boasting about. If we do draw then we will have gone nine games unbeaten, which is a positive, but the most draws in a row is not a record we want.”

He added, “We go to Burnley looking to perform well and if we do that, we believe we’re good enough to win the game. We’re into January now and we need to start winning games to set us up for the last quarter of the season.โ€

In hindsight shouldย Roberto Martinez’s side have converted the host of chances and won games Swansea certainly would have been fighting for an automatic promotion place a fact that has not gone unnoticed by the former West Ham United trainee.”You look at the points we could have had and they would have made a massive difference. It’s frustrating when you think where we could be, but we can’t let that affect us and we have to keep doing the same things which have served us well since the manager took over. If we do that, we all believe the wins will come.”

Turning his attention to today’s task Britton has been in buoyant mood but believes that Burnley will provide a stern test for the squad, he said โ€œThey showed when we drew with them down here that they are a good side.I watched their Carling Cup semi-final in the week and, while Spurs came back strongly in the second half, Burnley outplayed them up until half-time. They are very organised and they make life hard for the opposition so we know it will be a difficult game.”
