In the Swans heaviest defeat of the season at the Madejski Stadium the squad have coped with the majority of what has been thrown at them but the humiliation at the hands of the royals last year was a lesson according the the Irishman , he told the SWEP, “In this league you need lessons, and in a way it was probably good that happened because we realised we couldn’t start that slowly.โ
Accepting that the players were not at their best against Steve Coppell’s side Butler has warned his team mates should they fear Reading they will be punished “If we go out and fear Reading they will punish us, but if we play our usual game we should be okay.”
Gaining in championship experience , Swansea should provide a sterner test to the Royal’s promotion credentials. Howeverย the former Hartlepool midfielder as admitted that nerves and inexperience were the clubs downfall last time out , he adds โWe weren’t ourselves. We were a bit nervous that day. It was early in the season and some players hadn’t played in the Championship.โ
There will be one familiar face for Butler in the Reading line up in the guise of his former Republic Of Ireland U-21 international team-mate Noel Hunt. The 26 year old striker has been an integral part of the squad at the Berkshire club but it is the banter between himself and Butler is something that he is looking forward to.
โIt was good banter the last time we met. I haven’t seen him since that game so, hopefully, we can do it again. It will be sweet.I don’t think I was too harsh on him. He’s a good lad.”
