The Swansea City defender is potentially in line to replace the suspended Angel Rangel as the Swans look to get back to winning ways and take their unbeaten run to 15 games in the process.
Serran is yet to feature in the Championship since his summer move although he has played four games in cup competitions.
But with Rangel serving a one match ban, the defender seems likely to slot in at right back ahead of the other option which is bringing in Bessone and moving Tate to the right back slot.
Speaking to the Evening Post, Roberto said “Look at the number of games Angel has played for us since he signed and you see what a reliable character he is
“But even without him this weekend, we have the options in our squad to come in and do a good job.
“Albert has played in the cups for us and he is a player who has had to adapt from the way he played in Spain.
“It’s been a learning curve for him, but I would say he has been ready for around six weeks and it’s great to have a player of his quality pushing the others.
“Albert is someone who we signed with the long term in mind and I think he will go on to be a very important player for this club.
“Fede had a great spell in terms of minutes in the Championship before the injury and now he is refreshed and ready to step in if we need him
“We have another alternative with Angel outand that is to switch to a back-three. That is something we are capable of this season with the squad we’ve built and something we are happy to do if that is best against particular opposition.”
