Kamara gained knowledge of the Swans last season and revealed that he recommended the services of Ferrie Bodde to two Premiership clubs in the summer.
Kamara is Chairman of the manager of the month panel which seems almost certain to name either Roberto or Dave Jones as manager of the month today with Roberto the slight favourite to pick up his first award of the season.
And Kamara has told the Western Mail that the Swans progress is not a surprise to him even if it is to other pundits in the media who claim Swansea to be the surprise package of the season.
“I think it probably says a lot for this current time in Welsh football to have two managers from this part of the country being recognised for what they’re doing at their clubs
“And they should be getting the credit for what’s going on at Cardiff and Swansea because managers are quick enough to receive the criticism when the results aren’t going their way so it’s great their work can be highlighted with these awards.
“And both Dave and Roberto deserve that. They are different characters, but there are plenty of similarities there, like both knowing just how they want the game to be played.
“When you look at it, Roberto was probably the obvious choice to be nominated this month
“The only downside for Swansea supporters at the moment has to be the fact he’s stopped being a bit of a secret.
“The way he’s got Swansea playing is making a lot of people sit up and take notice and no-one should be surprised at that.
“And if other people think they have become the Championship’s surprise package then it hasn’t surprised me because I saw the way he worked last year.
“In fact, I don’t think it was a surprise for them to go and beat Portsmouth – and the way they approached that game the victory was absolutely deserved.
“He’s got a fantastic knowledge of the game and his players have responded brilliantly to the way he approaches things so relaxed
“He’s got wonderful ethics because the way he wants his team to play at this end of the Championship are the same ones he had from the day he took the job. He’s a lovely man with a lovely manner and no-one can deny he is doing a tremendous job.
“And considering Swansea have lost a player in Ferrie Bodde that I happily recommended to two Premier League clubs in the summer and are still looking strong shows that the quality is there and their push is no fluke.
“And that has to be credit to the manager and to players like Jason Scotland who can play with his back to goal, has two good feet, good in the air and has pretty much got the lot, yet some people thought he couldn’t do it League One.”
