Dyer Keen On Permanent Swans Stay

It has been quite a start to Swansea City life for the player on loan from Southampton and Dyer wants that to become a permanent move with the two clubs already at the negotiating table.

A fans favourite almost instantly for scoring the first in the FA Cup win at Portsmouth, Dyer seems certain to return to the starting line up tomorrow after missing last week’s draw against his parent club through the terms of the loan deal.

And he wants more of the same in the future as he told the Evening Post “Swansea is a really good club, and I have not had many chances at Southampton.

“I think I have fitted in well down here. The lads have made it easy for me to settle and I’m enjoying myself.

“I didn’t have many chances to show what I could do when I was on loan at Sheffield United earlier in the season.

“But these things happen for a reason and that has brought me to Swansea, which so far has been brilliant.

“It’s been a revelation for me, but it’s not down to me to decide whether I stay here. I know that the clubs were in talks, but I wasn’t really sure what was going on.

“I was just told that I would know if they agreed a fee and that we would go from there if that happened.”

New Southampton manager Mark Wotte says he would like to keep Dyer at St Marys but it seems that is not something that the player is too keen on as he added “He is the manager he wants to keep me, but you could say it’s a bit unfair that I’m doing well at the moment and now they want me to come back.

“When I came back from Sheffield United, I was basically told I would have to work really hard to get into the team.

“They said I’d be third or fourth choice so I jumped at the chance of coming to Swansea.

“Now I’m doing well and they would like me back. You could say that’s a bit unfair.

“Whether something will happen in the next couple of months or at the end of the season I’m not sure,” he adds.

“The manager will do his job and tell me if anything gets agreed.

“But I am not going to worry about it and I won’t keep checking. My job is to play football and I’ll get on with that.”
