It’s back to action for Swansea City tomorrow with the Liberty trophy cabinet holding another award – a first Championship manager of the month award for Roberto.
But rather than resting on his laurels and enjoying the moment, Roberto is looking to build on the success to date and told the Evening Post “The award is very pleasing because it is 24 years since we have been at this level and this shows that we have been competing and challenging
“We have had some very good performances and finally we’ve got the results we’ve deserved.
“I think a couple of games, in particular, have been real eye-openers.
“To beat Reading the way we did โ and to be praised afterwards by someone like Steve Coppell โ and then to win at Portsmouth in the FA Cup has made people see a pattern of play which we produce week-in, week-out.
“To get good football and consistency is hard to do and the manager of the month award is a compliment to everyone involved at the club.
“But having said that, getting to this level is the easy bit. The hard thing is to keep the standards up for the rest of the season and that’s what we’ll focus on now.
“We came through when we lost people like Ferrie Bodde and Marcos Painter and I know that whoever comes in will be ready to cope. We have a very good squad in terms of mentality and the quality is there.”
