Swansea City have not made any signings during this loan window and it seems almost certain that there will be no arrivals at the Liberty Stadium today.

And the Swans Chairman believes that the loan system should be scrapped totally and told the Evening Post "Personally, I'm not in favour of having a loan market at all," Jenkins said. "The only people it really benefits are the bigger clubs who are loaning these players out.

"Yes, clubs like ours get the use of them for a few months or a season but, when you weigh things up, I would rather not have the players at all because I don't think it's good for football.

"We have seen it at Swansea and at various clubs around the country. Players go on loan and improve and the only people who benefit are their owners.

"The bigger clubs take on bigger squads than they need because they know they can send people out on loan and pick who they want to bring back.

"If you starve them of the chance to use the loan market, players will be reluctant to sign for them because they have little or no chance of first team football.

That would make things competitive straightaway.

"There is also the problem of smaller clubs stretching themselves to sign these players on loan. They end up paying higher wages than they should be and that forces wages up generally at these clubs.

"Having these loan players then makes it harder for younger, local players to come through.

"These are my view, but I can't force them on our club. But I think the quicker the loan system stops, the better.

"A lot of things are being talked about by clubs within the Football League to improve the chances of homegrown players and to keep finances in check.

"It could be that something will happen, and I believe it would make a massive difference.''
