The Swansea City midfielder has experienced it all in his time with the club it seems. Near relegation from the league, two promotions, a narrow miss on the play offs and now the chance remaining with three games left of Premiership football in Swansea for next season.
Some may say that they long for a season without pressure where they can enjoy their games towards the end of the season but not Britton who said “Ever since I have been here, it’s always been the same
“It’s never cut and dry. We had the survival season, getting to the play-offs, having to beat Blackpool under Roberto two years ago, even last year it was a case of were we going to get the league title or not?
“Things are never straightforward.
“But that’s the way you want them. Even though you might miss out right at the end, this is where you’d rather be.
“I remember the year at the Vetch when Kenny Jackett had taken over from Brian Flynn and we had nothing on the last month, we played York at home on the last game in a 0-0 and it was so boring.
“All the players were talking about holidays because that’s all you had to look forward to at the end of a long season.
“Can you imagine now for our last two weeks or so to be the same, everyone asking where you’re off on your holidays or what are you up to next weekend?
“Even though it’s going to be tough, we’ve something to play for and that’s what you want as a footballer. The odds are against us, but we’ve still got that chance.
“The opportunity is there for us to get to within a point, leading up to the international break there was more pressure on us to get the results to get into the play-offs.
“But now the pressure is on Burnley and they have everything to lose.
“We’re in a situation where we can enjoy our football and try and win the three games and then see what happens.
“I won’t lie, I’ll be tuning in to watch Burnley on Monday. And, if we get a win, I can sit back and relax hoping they slip up.
“You can’t look ahead to Blackpool on the last day of the season thinking if we win that, then we could get a play-off place,” he said.
“You can’t think like that. You have to concentrate 100 per cent on Saturday’s game because by Monday, we may be out of the play-off race. It can change so quickly.
“You just can’t look two, three weeks ahead. Our focus has to be on this one.
“It’s a derby with a few former players coming back to add more spice, we’re more excited about this game than playing one of the teams in the bottom half of the table who aren’t doing anything.
“There’s no pressure on us from outside, but we put pressure on ourselves in every game.
“We want to play well because of the good standards we’ve set. We are concentrating on ourselves and make sure we play our stuff.
“We’ve done that in the last few games and, if we can continue that, we’re confident we can win our games.”
