Drawing an early end to his career with the Doonhamers, Dobbie's former strike partner has talked about his delight in playing with the Glaswegian over the last few seasons and firmly thinks that the highly sought after striker deserved his chance to go on a better himself as he told the Dunfries And Galloway Standard, he said “Stephen deserves to go onto better things.”
He added “It’s been a total enjoyment playing with him over the last two years.I thought he might have got his move last year because he did so well, but he’s gone and bettered himself this year. He deserves his chance.”
Swansea are thought to have beat off competition from SPL outfit Hibernian and a clutch of Championship clubs but the offer from the Liberty Stadium club was too good to refuse according to the former St Johnston man as he revealed on the Scottish clubs website, he said “ I'm sad to leave Queen of the South as I felt I'd struck up a good bond with the fans those past two and a half years. However, it's an offer I just couldn't refuse! I'd like to say a big thank-you to the manager, the players, coaching staff at Palmerston and I'll never forget my time there.”
