The long serving Swansea City man has been at the club for all of his professional career – bar a short spell on loan at Cheltenham a couple of years back.

But with him out of contract this summer – and just one appearance behind him last season – he is the subject of speculation that Roberto will show him the door although there is another school of belief that he could have a coaching role developing at the club.

O'Learu himself has not given up on a new deal and said "I've never wanted to leave.  I've been here since I left school in 1994 and the club has been a massive part of my life.

"But the decision is out of my hands – if the gaffer doesn't offer me a new contract, I'll have to leave.

"Of course I'll be upset if I'm not offered a new contract.  I'll be absolutely gutted.

"But if I have to go I'll just have to find another club because I've got a wide and two little kids to support.

"I know I've got something to offer.  My chance might come next season that's why I'd happily sign a new contract with Swansea."
