Interestingly though Roberto has yet to confirm the reports that Dorus will not sign the extension to his deal prompting more speculation that he may remain at the Liberty for next season.
A couple of weeks have passed since reports surfaced that Dorus had passed the deadline given for signing his new deal but as yet there has been no word from the club that after two years his time at Swansea is up.
And Roberto refuses to confirm or deny that at the moment but also acknowledges to the Western Mail that he is looking for players that are interested in playing for Swansea City.
The Swans manager said "I just look for the right frame of mind in my players,
“If a player is not sure about playing for Swansea City it’s quite clear we need to move on and offer him our best wishes.
“You can always look back and assess the impact any player has made at our football club.
“But, in terms of their future, the player has to be 100% that he is desperate to play for Swansea City.
“If that’s not the case, we need to be strong enough to find a replacement that is desperate enough.”
He continued: “I’m not saying I don’t expect Dorus to sign an extension.
“I’m saying I don’t want to sign players who are not 100% committed to our club.
“It’s not a case of putting a gun to someone’s head and getting them to sign.
“It’s about getting the players with the right attitude and, if you look at the past two years, the players that have been successful are the ones that love playing for our football club.”
Martinez ended by dropping a further hint that Dorus could stay at the club by adding “If he does come back now he will probably have to convince some of the fans of his commitment again
“I wouldn’t go into detail but I know the fans have the right to know the ins and outs of any deal.
“Right now all I can guarantee the fans is that whoever I sign will be 100% committed to Swansea City.
“They will be desperate to help this team win games.”
