Jones was always a name that was going to head into the North to follow Martinez – the two of them have worked so well at Swansea that the partnership would never be broken up.

But the move for Reeves will be a blow for the Swans who have had a scout responsible for some of the most successful signings at the club in recent seasons.

Those signings started with Lee Trundle and Andy Robinson and moved right through the Martinez era with the likes of Bodde, Scotland and others all attributed to Reeves for his scouting reports.

But both will join Martinez in his new career at Wigan with Inaki and Oscar also expected to follow suit to the JJB Stadium to try and keep Wigan in the Premier League.
