Jones has been backed down from 14/1 to 15/8 for the vacant Swans position amidst a flurry of support and rumours that he was about to ditch the idea of following Roberto to Wigan and ready to spread out on his own as manager.
The idea appeals to Swans fans and potentially board alike as it would give continuity and it is rumoured that it would also reduce the possibilities of some of the top players following Roberto through the exit door.
However, the Western Mail reports that there have been no discussions between the Swans and Jones over the vacant position and believe that they are still expecting him to join Roberto and remain his assistant manager.
However, Huw Jenkins said nothing to back up this belief in an interview with the paper in which he said “We are looking at a number of different options, each of which are very good candidates, and there’s no point rushing this
“We have a good squad in place and that gives us the opportunity to take our time. There’s certainly no panic buttons being pressed.
“The more people I speak to and the more advice I get, the more I realise we need to be patient.
“We are doing a lot of checks on candidates and that will stand us in good stead. I have always said that this is most important decision the current board has had to make. With that in mind it’s important we do everything possible to get it right.”
