Receiving a formal bid yesterday from Wigan, for striker Jason Scotland thought to be in the region of £1.5 million plus a possible £500,000 in add ons has given both Sousa and Jenkins a massive headache on when to replace the prolific 30 year old goalscorer, should he leave the club.
What is fundamentally clear is that there will not be a rush to sign new players and learning from past experience, the local businessman has certainly taken a more measured and pragmatic tone to transfers in the last few seasons, such is the new philosophy at the club.
Encouraging the Portuguese legend to take his time over bringing in a clutch of fresh faces to the Liberty Stadium, Jenkins has admitted that rushing into the transfer market is not the right thing to do as he outlined to the SWEP, he said, “I think the media and the fans should realise that it would be easy for a new manager to come in and panic.”
"He could easily rush to bring in some new signings just to satisfy everybody, but my limited experience has told me that's not the right thing to do.I am trying to encourage Paulo to take his time.''
Hot on the heals of Roberto Martinez's Scotland raid, Bolton boss Gary Megson has made one last bid to sign Dutch midfield maestro Ferrie Bodde, thought to be in the region of £3.5 million.
“I’m not going to lie, we have made an offer for Ferrie. We are where we are with that one and if Swansea do want to do business it will be on the price we have last done at.
“Otherwise we will move on because we have got one or two midfielder's here that I am pleased with and every player has their price so we won’t go above what we have offered so far.”
Earlier in the week reports had suggested that Swansea had already rejected that bid from Bolton
