De Vries will take his familiar place between the sticks this season although back in May he seemed destined to have a new home this season after he stalled on a new contract

But that has changed and an extended deal at the Liberty under new manager Paulo Sousa means that De Vries will be tasked with the aim of keeping Leicester out as the Swans look for a winning start to the season.

And he believes that the Swans need to tighten up at the back and also believes that they may have found the end to their perceived problems from set pieces

Speaking to the Western Mail, De Vries said “We have to be positive.

“We’re trying to shape up our defensive set-plays and the gaffer’s trying to work that out so we don’t make errors.

“Leicester are well-organised in terms of defensive set-plays, but in terms of playing football there are not a lot of teams who can do what we do in the Championship.

“A goal’s a goal and I’m angry whenever they go in,” he said.

“But set-pieces are very annoying, To be fair there are always guys in the Championship with great deliveries, but you don’t want to give people free headers.

“So we have to work harder to make sure that does not happen because these players will take their chances.

“There is such a massive hunger here at the moment,” said the 6ft 1ins Dutchman.

“Everybody’s buzzing and it’s great to see how much the new guys want to prove themselves.”

“Stephen Dobbie and Jordi Lopez really want to repay the faith shown in the club by bringing them here and it’s great to see,” he said.

“We are trying to be more unpredictable.

“You want that hunger and that’s what you want to see from your players.

“We’ve also got a new manager and the club responded really well by getting the right man in as soon as possible.

“It looks really positive. The one thing in football is that nobody is unmissable.

“Players adapt to new managers and thankfully the team has responded really well to the new management team.”
