Beattie arrived in a double deal on a three year contract along with Lee Trundle on a short term loan to boost the Swans squad depleted by injuries and suspensions
And the Chairman revealed that he has been a target of Sousa for a while and is delighted to get the man that he thinks can add something missing to the Swans squad
Speaking to BBC Sport he said "We mustn't forget that Craig Beattie was brought in as our main signing that Paulo wanted over the last few weeks.
"We've been looking and looking to try and get a deal for a reasonably experienced target man, which we needed – somebody big and powerful to play up front.
"And that's what our manager wanted and at last, obviously, we're quite happy to get somebody in and let's hope Craig can do a great job for us.
"I think he'll give us what we've been lacking. I think the way we play – with the one central striker – to suit our formation needs somebody capable of holding the ball up and being strong there for us and I think he's proven that he can do that.
"We definitely knew that we needed to get a striker in, somebody with experience, but still somebody who can grow as well with the club… we feel Craig can do that.
"With a new manager coming in and things taking time to settle down, like they have done at Reading and Ipswich and so on, August was always going to be a tough month.
"So if we can get through Saturday's game, pick up three points, we can look back to, I think, a job well done in August."
